What's new in Fabdose
A plain-language log of what's changed in the Fabdose desktop app: new capabilities, and the bugs we've fixed.
v0.8.13

- analyzing a CAD file at a path containing non-English characters (for example a Korean or Japanese folder or file name) could crash the analysis immediately on Windows, depending on your Windows language setting. This is now fixed for every Windows language setting.
- a part with wall-thickness variance at exactly a process's published uniformity limit (for example, exactly 25% for extrusion) could be incorrectly flagged as violating it, caused by rounding noise introduced when a CAD file is saved and reopened. Parts exactly at the limit are no longer flagged incorrectly.
- an undercut feature at exactly a severity-band edge (5, 15, or 30 degrees) could be classified inconsistently, sometimes a lower severity, sometimes a higher one, on identical geometry, depending on which CAD tool exported the file. Classification is now consistent regardless of the exporting tool.
- a wall drafted at exactly 30 degrees could be dropped from wall-thickness measurement entirely on some file exports and counted on others, for the same design. It's now measured consistently either way.
- when a design issue was correctly escalated to the most severe ("critical") category, a separate counting bug could cause the overall manufacturability verdict to improve instead of getting worse. Verdicts now only move in the direction that matches how severe the issues actually are.
- wall-thickness measurement couldn't detect the side wall of a round bar, a ball, or a toroidal wall at all - the underlying 3D geometry engine represents both sides of a rounded surface (a cylinder, a sphere, a ring) as a single face, and the app mistook the real opposite wall for a hit on itself. Round bars, balls, and toroidal walls now get a real wall-thickness reading instead of none.
- any error while checking your subscription/quota status, not just being offline, could incorrectly reset your usage tracking to a fresh free-trial allotment. Your real usage is now preserved correctly across any such error.
- if your login session expired while a DFM chat response was streaming in, the app could fail silently or get stuck instead of asking you to sign in again. It now correctly detects the expired session and prompts you to re-authenticate.

- wall-thickness issues on injection-molded parts are now pinned to the exact face on the 3D model, the same way draft angle and undercut issues already are, instead of showing "location not found."
- if an analysis fails, the report screen now shows what actually went wrong instead of an empty page, with a "contact support" button that opens an email already filled in with the diagnostic details.
Fixed
- a part modeled with its draft angle exactly at the minimum required for its process could get flagged as under-drafted, caused by rounding noise introduced when the CAD file was saved and reopened. A part drafted exactly at the minimum is no longer flagged incorrectly.
- a wall-thickness reading near one boss or hole could be thrown off by an unrelated cylindrical feature elsewhere on the part, sometimes reporting a wall as thicker than it actually is. Wall-thickness readings are now accurate in these cases.
- creating a free account from guest mode could silently fail, leaving you signed in as a guest with no error message even after finishing sign-up in the browser. Creating an account from guest mode now signs you in correctly.

- analysis keeps running in the background if you navigate away from the report screen to start a new upload or switch pages. Fabdose sends a system notification when it finishes or fails, including on macOS, where this notification is now delivered correctly.

- the loading screen's "Process" field now shows the process you actually selected, instead of always showing a generic placeholder label.
- the analysis progress bar now moves as each stage runs, instead of sitting at 0% until the very end.
- finishing an analysis no longer drops you into a second, unexplained loading screen for translation. It continues smoothly from the first one instead.

- issue and chat labels no longer show raw internal codes like "corner_radius_warning". They're always shown as translated text, in all four languages.
- chat message timestamps now follow the report's own language instead of always showing Korean-style formatting.
- reports with a large number of issues (most often CNC parts) no longer fail partway through analysis.

- guest mode lets you try one analysis without creating an account first. Signing up is only needed after that, for more analyses or to export a PDF.

- a failed automatic sign-in after clicking the verification email's link now shows an on-screen message instead of failing silently.

- chat input is now multi-line, shows badges for what context is attached to your message, and the panel is wider and resizable. Attached context is now saved, so it's still there after restarting the app or reopening an old report.

- issues with a real recommended fix now show it consistently, on-screen and in exported PDFs, instead of sometimes falling back to a generic "manual review required" message.
- PDF exports in Japanese and Chinese no longer show blank boxes where issue text should be.
- Settings (Windows) now shows whether an update is actually available instead of a static message.
- chat answers about the specific issue you click on more reliably, and AI responses with tables now render as actual tables instead of raw text.
- switching a report's display language now shows a loading indicator instead of sitting static before the text updates.

- CNC undercut detection (shapes tools can't reach) is on by default and now finishes in under 2 seconds.

- cost and property errors across several materials, including steel pricing and plastic melt/mold temperatures.
- when an analysis can't finish, you now see the real reason instead of a report that looks complete.
- auto-compare could rank a process first even when it was never actually checked.
